Terms of Service

1. Agreement to terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the SafeSignal scam email scanning service, including the website at safesignal.ch and the scan@mail.safesignal.ch address (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by József András Ujvári, trading as SafeSignal (Einzelunternehmen), Solarstrasse 7, 8404 Winterthur, Switzerland ("SafeSignal", "we", "us").

By forwarding an email to the Service or purchasing scan credits, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always available at safesignal.ch/terms.html. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance.

2. What the Service is

SafeSignal analyses emails you forward to scan@mail.safesignal.ch using an AI model and replies with a verdict — safe, suspicious, or scam — together with an explanation, identified red flags, and recommended actions, in English, German, French or Hungarian. There are no user accounts. Usage is tracked per sending email address.

3. Free tier and scan credits

• Free tier: 3 scans per sending email address per calendar month, resetting monthly.
• Scan credit packs: one-time purchases (no subscription, no recurring charge) processed by Stripe. Credits are added to the email address used at checkout and consumed one per completed scan.
• Failed scans: if a scan cannot be completed, the credit (or free-tier scan) is automatically refunded.
• Credits are personal to the email address they were purchased for and are not transferable. Purchased credits do not expire. Where a pack is described as "Unlimited", it applies to reasonable personal use from the associated email address (see section 5).
• Prices are shown in Swiss Francs (CHF) at safesignal.ch. Except where required by law, purchases are final; if something goes wrong with a purchase, contact contact@safesignal.ch and we will make it right.

4. Permitted use

The Service is intended for checking emails and messages that you have received yourself, or that you are authorised to handle (for example on behalf of a family member or your organisation). You must not forward other people's private correspondence to the Service without authorisation.

5. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose;
• Submit content in bulk or through automated tools, or attempt to circumvent the free-tier limits, rate limits, or credit system;
• Attempt to manipulate the AI analysis, extract the underlying prompts or systems, or interfere with the Service's operation;
• Deliberately submit malware with the intent of damaging the Service or third-party systems;
• Resell or commercially redistribute the Service without our written consent.

We may refuse, limit, or block use of the Service — including revoking access for an email address engaged in abuse — where reasonably necessary to protect the Service or comply with law.

6. Nature of the Service and its limits

It is important to understand what the Service does and does not do:

• Verdicts are AI-generated and can be wrong. A "safe" verdict does not guarantee an email is legitimate, and a "scam" verdict does not prove it is fraudulent. The Service helps you check — it does not decide for you.
• The Service analyses content for scam and phishing signals only. It is not an antivirus product and does not perform malware scanning. A verdict says nothing about whether an attachment contains malicious code.
• The verdict is informational. It is not legal, financial, or professional security advice. You remain responsible for your decisions, including whether to click links, open attachments, respond to messages, or make payments.
• Analysis quality depends on the content forwarded; incomplete forwards (for example, missing original headers) can reduce accuracy.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every scam will be detected, or that every legitimate email will be recognised as such.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for losses resulting from your reliance on a verdict — including losses caused by scams, fraud, or malware that the Service did not identify.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising from the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) CHF 100. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including for intent or gross negligence under Swiss law.

9. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, code, text, and branding, is owned by the operator. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended purpose. You retain all rights to the emails you forward; you grant us the limited right to process them solely to deliver the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Privacy

Our processing of personal data — including which service providers are involved and the fact that data is processed outside Switzerland — is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Swiss law. The courts at the operator's seat in the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rules that grant you the right to sue or be sued at your place of residence.
